However, on 21 July, three days after the incident, Twitter user Rabia Baluch shared a video of the incident. She tweeted the following:
Baluch claimed that the incident occurred in Ahmedabad. She tweeted that the attackers were all Hindus and that Rafiquddin was a meat-seller.
Even Danyal Gilani, Director of Pakistan’s Information and Broadcasting Ministry, tweeted a newspaper clipping of the story.
Don’t be a WebQoof, here’s what really happened:
The accused, Dhule Police said, was a member of a rival gang, while Shaikh alias Guddya, 35, was recently released from prison.
One person was arrested in connection with the case. Police reviewed CCTV footage, recorded statements of eyewitnesses and registered a murder case. Five accused, who are history-sheeters, were identified and special teams were formed to nab them.
During the investigation, police received information about the accused’s whereabouts and a team was sent to Kamshet to arrest him.
Pawar, one of the prime accused, is seen in red a t-shirt while the crime was being perpetrated. He fled the district soon after, Ramkumar said. He added that during his interrogation, Pawar provided important leads that will help arrest the remaining accused.
