Facebook pulled down cartoonist Mir Suhail artwork involving Afzal Guru’s hanging for the 2001 attack on the Indian Parliament. The cartoonist took to rival social media platform Twitter to protest against this move.
Suhail also said that Facebook blocked him permanently from posting any such content. This move by the social networking site has evoked a lot of responses from other Twitter users.
The cartoon showed roots of a tree named Kashmir uniting with roots growing out of Afzal Guru’s grave. Guru was hanged on this day, three years ago.
Media person Majid Pandit also raised a voice of protest against this.
Writer Sahir Bilal in his protest said “Even memories are seditious in Kashmir” in his tweet.
