Four Killed, 5 Injured in Explosion at Muzaffarnagar Scrap Shop

Four people were killed and five sustained injuries in an explosion at a scrap shop in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district on Monday, 25 June, police said.

The blast occurred when a group of people was busy breaking scrap material in the shop under the Civil Lines Police Station, PTI, quoting Circle Officer Harish Bhadoria, reported.

The police and fire brigade reached the spot soon after receiving information about the incident and started rescuing those injured.

Two of the deceased, who were handling the scrap material, were identified as Tazim (50) and Shazad (55), Bhadoria said.

The injured were identified as Yusuf, Nawajish, Naushad, Shoaib and Kaiser Begum. They were passing by the shop at the time of the incident, he said.

An investigation is underway to identify the material that caused the explosion.
