India, on Monday, asked Pakistan to end its illegal and forceful occupation of Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir, and give freedom to those living there.

According to a report by The Tribune, the Permanent Mission of India to UN in Geneva submitted its report and recommendations to the Universal Periodic Review Working Group.

Speaking at the 28th working group session, First Secretary in the Mission Sumit Seth asked Pakistan to dismantle special terrorist zones and safe havens.

He also asked the country to take verifiable action on terror funding.

In its 12-point recommendation, India asked Pakistan, “to stop targeting political dissidents and legitimate criticism in Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa” and “to stop torture, enforced disappearances and unlawful killing, including that of journalists and activists, by its security agencies and prosecute perpetrators”.

India also asked Pakistan to stop the systemic persecution of Shias, Ahmadis, Ismailis and Hazaras and “to bar military courts from trying civilians and allow their monitoring by international observers and human rights organisations”.
