All educational institutions in Kashmir would remain closed today as a precautionary measure after separatists called on students to stage peaceful protests against the rising braid chopping incidents in the valley.
After about a month, more than 100 incidents have been reported but no arrests have been made so far.
Police have formed special investigation teams and is offering a reward of six lakh rupees for information leading to arrest of the culprits.
An official spokesperson said an order to close the educational institutions in the valley was issued by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Khan on Wednesday.
The University of Kashmir also suspended classes for the day, but examinations are being conducted as per schedule.
