Drunk Hyderabad Students Leave 9-Year-Old Girl Brain-Dead

Nine-year-old Ramya is on ventilator support in the ICU of a private hospital in Hyderabad after she suffered from internal bleeding in the head.

According to reports, doctors say that she is brain-dead and not in a condition to undergo an essential operation.

On Friday, Ramya was picked up from her first day of school and was going home with her mother, grandfather and two uncles when an allegedly drunk student rammed the car, leaving one dead and all the family members injured.

Reports add that all the accused who were in the speeding car were first-year engineering students and had consumed alcohol.

Speaking to The News Minute, a police officer from the Banjara Hills police station said:

At around 4 pm, the family was coming from St Ann’s school in West Maredpally after picking up the 9-year-old girl.The family was driving a Santro and was at Banjara Hills when an i10 car with six people hit them. The accused had consumed alcohol around 1:30 pm at TGIF at Cineplex and left the restaurant around 3:45. At present, the girl is brain dead and doctors have declared that she can die anytime soon.

A case has been registered under section 304 IPC part 2 (Murder) and six men are in police custody.

The incident came to light even as a 45-year-old man died in the wee hours of Saturday in Chennai, when a speeding Audi hit him on the OMR road.

Twenty-six-year-old Aishwarya, daughter of Wilton Rulans – a top insurance surveyor –   is believed to have been behind the wheel and was allegedly drunk when she lost control of the car.
