A report by The Indian Express explains how the number of students opting for the Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme has gone down drastically over the years.

Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme is aimed for Jammu and Kashmir students. According to the report, the students have cited two major reasons for the decreased number – government’s failure to pay the scholarship money and violent attacks against them.

Out of the 11,155 students who applied for the full-paid scholarship this year, 3,742 were selected. However, only 941 students accepted the five-year-old scholarship.
