Out on bail, AIADMK deputy general secretary TTV Dinakaran left for Parappana Agrahara prison in Bengaluru on Monday.
He plans to meet his aunt and general secretary Sasikala, lodged there on graft charges since February, discuss the future course of action for the party.
Speaking to a Tamil channel, Thanthi TV, Dhinakaran said, “A few members of the party, due to some of their fears, said TTV Dinakaran and his family should remain out of the party. Because of which, I stayed away from the party for the last 45 days.”
When asked about contesting the RK Nagar elections, he said that when the election comes, he will think about it. He said that for now, he wants to unite the party and take it forward.
The court asked them to furnish a personal bond of Rs. 5 lakh each and two sureties of the same amount. In addition to this, they have been warned against leaving the country without the court’s permission.
The Delhi court had also said that there was no apprehension of him fleeing and the police were yet to find out which Election Commission officer had been approached by Dinakaran and his aides.
On 25 April, TTV Dinkaran was arrested by the Delhi police for allegedly trying to bribe the EC officials to get the two leaves symbol allotted to the party.
