A Karnataka IPS officer has set a record of sorts by serving a post for 35 minutes.
HN Sathyanarayana Rao took charge as Director General of Police and Commandant General of home guards at 7.15pm on 31 July. At 7.50pm, he retired from the police service.
Home guards’ officials told The Quint that unlike the usual taking-over ceremonies, no senior officers were present at the headquarters.
Rao who was posted as Director General Police of Prisons Department, was transferred out on 17 July, without another posting. His subordinate, D Roopa Moudgal, accused him of taking a bribe of Rs 2 crore in exchange for special treatment to AIADMK leader V Sasikala.
