Demonetisation has broken the country’s back irrespective of age and class. If you thought using plastic money could be a way of circumventing this catastrophe, then you’re living in a tiny little bubble. It looks like your credit and debit cards may betray you now too.
When PM Modi announced that he’d be killing a major chunk of our currency (read: Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 notes), our first instinct was to refurbish virtual wallets and flash debit and credit cards for making payments. Here’s how the market appears to be faltering, one block at a time.
Sahasranshu Mahapatra had trouble paying bills
Suresh Mathew was unable to make payments at Oberoi in Mumbai
We’re hoping that things get better. Meanwhile, have patience fellow Indians, we’re all in this together!
