In an alarming incident, three Dalit youths in Uttar Pradesh’s Jaunpur were stripped and thrashed in public for allegedly attempting theft at a local Seva Kendra in Uttar Pradesh’s Jaunpur on Saturday, 6 July night.
However, Jaunpur SP Vipin Kumar Mishra said that the three were attempting to break in to a Union Bank branch, ANI reported.
From what can be seen in the video, the three men were made to strip and then beaten up by the villagers.
A Times Now report says that two of the men were caught red-handed while attempting to break-in, while one was picked up from his house.
Another report by India Today quoting police said that the three men have been detained and an FIR was registered against them.
Meanwhile, the people who thrashed the men have been booked and an investigation is underway, the India Today report added.
