A video of Tej Bahadur Yadav, a Border Security Force (BSF) soldier, alleging that he and his fellow soldiers have to often go to bed empty stomach, has now gone viral.
Blaming the corrupt bureaucracy, and not the government, for their pitiable living conditions, Yadav in his video captures the inedible food that the jawans are fed.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted that “appropriate action” will be taken.
Addressing “my countrymen”, Yadav says the food they get is pasty dal with only some salt and burnt rotis . “Tell me, how do you expect us to perform our duties like this?" he asks.
Yadav, who belongs to the 29 BN BSF Battalion, says the government provides the army with ample food and resources. But senior officers sell them off and barely give anything to the soldiers. Addressing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he asks for a probe into this alleged scam.
The jawan, who punctuates his video with the words “Jai Hind!”, ends by saying that he may be discharged from the service due to the video. But Yadav states, he wants his countrymen to know the deplorable conditions in which he and his fellow soldiers serve.
