Black Money Can’t Be An Excuse For Apathy, Writes A Bank Official

‘’I don’t want any good that has someone’s blood on it’’, writes a disillusioned bank official.

Demonetisation is clearly the strongest wave that’s hit the country in recent times. You’ve heard enough debate, you’ve braved enough queues. Thus, without further ado, here’s something that further adds to the web.

This rural banker’s Facebook post describes his daily encounters which involve hapless people braving serpentine queues everyday and yet the bank runs out of cash.

On the verge of a breakdown, the official pleads for empathy and deems the current situation as a “violation of human rights’’.

Here are excerpts from his post:

If tomorrow, I see another shivering old lady in the queue, I will break down. Because I can’t really look them in the eye and explain to them that it’s all for a greater good and for national interest and that black money will go away.

He also talks of how people have died waiting in queues and that it is high time one drops the elitist act and considers the blatant violation of human rights in the name of ‘inconvenience’.

He says his brand of patriotism doesn’t allow him to let people die for anyone’s ‘greater good’.

I don’t want any good that has someone’s blood on it. And will this good mean income parity? WILL IT? What was the rush when your infrastructure wasn’t ready? People have died because you couldn’t wait to hit headlines. Black money can’t be your excuse for apathy. If this is your idea of Desh bhakti, then to hell with such patriotism.
