The brutal murder of a woman police constable, allegedly by her male colleague, is a fallout of a spurned marriage proposal, according to the victim’s family.
Woman police constable Soumya Pushpakaran, posted with the Vallikunnam police station in Kerala’s Alappuzha district, was hacked and set on fire, allegedly by her male colleague Ajas, on Saturday evening. Soumya died on the spot and Ajas, who worked at Ernakulam rural district, sustained burn injuries.

A Delhi woman allegedly threw acid on her boyfriend in the national capital's Vikaspuri area to exact revenge from him as he did not want to marry her, police said. She was riding pillion on her boyfriend's motorcycle when she asked him to take off his helmet as she was "unable to touch him properly." Moments later, she allegedly threw acid on him.
On June 11, the police received a call that a couple was attacked with acid.

An ex-serviceman shot dead a head constable inside a police station at Mahilpur in Hoshiarpur district on Sunday, while an assistant sub-inspector had a narrow escape and survived with injuries as he too was fired at by the accused.
The victim has been identified as Amarjit Singh, 42, of Garshankar, while ASI Sham Lal received injuries.

A man has been arrested for allegedly running an extortion racket while posing as a senior TV news journalist. The accusedm Sudhir, was nabbed while trying to collect Rs 2 lakh from a traffic police cop whom he had been blackmailing.
Police said that the accused is a resident of Narela and was a part of a gang that blackmailed shop owners and policemen all over the city. The accused was nabbed near Narela while his associate escaped.

A minor accident involving a police vehicle and a Gramin Sewa tempo in North West Delhi’s Mukherjee Nagar Sunday took a violent turn. A five-minute video of the incident shows sword-wielding tempo driver Sarabjeet Singh being “controlled” by a group of officers, as they beat him up with lathis and drag him across the road.
As the officers surrounded Singh and beat him in a bid to control him, the tempo, allegedly being driven by his son, hits the officers, the video shows. Officers then subdue the boy.

A 22-year-old man died on Friday night when an unlicensed pistol went off while he was posing with it for a selfie during a marriage function in Sahibganj district.
Sunil Topna, officer-in-charge, Sahibganj town police station, said the deceased, Pawan Kumar Paswan, a resident of Mirza Gaon village in Bhagalpur district of Bihar, had come to the marriage function at his maternal uncle’s house.

A man was bludgeoned to death in Altos Nagar on Hambran Road in Ludhiana on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Opinder Mahato (35), a resident of Dairy Complex on Hambran Road. According to police, the accused killed Mahato by smashing a stone on his head.

A man posing as an IPS officer with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) was arrested from East Delhi's Mayur Vihar. The accused had allegedly raped numerous women after promising to marry them.
Police said that the accused has been identified as Piyush and a fake ID card was also recovered from him.
