In view of the nationwide lockdown enforced to combat the coronavirus outbreak, Delhi Metro services will remain closed till 14 April.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), on Thursday, 26 March, tweeted, “It is hereby informed that, in light of the lockdown issued by the government, Metro services will remain closed till 14 April 2020.”
On 22 March, the DMRC had announced closure of its services till the end of this month. “As there is a nationwide lockdown for 21 days, the services will remain closed till 14 April 14,” a senior official said.
In a statement on Sunday, the DMRC had said, “As per the latest decision, in order to fight the coronavirus outbreak, it has been decided that metro services will remain completely closed till 31 March”.
“The move is aimed at controlling the spread of coronavirus by ensuring social distancing and encouraging people to stay at home for the time being”, it added.
The number of COVID–19 positive cases in Delhi touched 36, the government said. Out of the 36, 10 patients are those who came in touch with individuals carrying the virus from abroad, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Thursday.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, the Delhi government stated that all shops supplying essential goods will stay open 24x7. He also added, “Food home delivery services have been allowed, the delivery persons can show their ID cards that will be sufficient. Mohalla clinics will continue to function but with all precautions.”
