India on Monday, 24 May, reported 2,22,315 new coronavirus cases, taking the tally in the country to 2,67,52,447. The death toll increased by 4,454 deaths in last 24 hours, to 3,03,720.

According to the Union Health Ministry data, there are currently 27,20,716 active cases across the country, while 2,37,28,011 patients have been discharged so far, with 3,02,544 discharges reported in the last 24 hours.

Over 19k Samples Tested for COVID on Sunday: ICMR

As many as 33,05,36,064 samples have been tested till 24 May, of which 19,28,127 samples were tested on Sunday, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said.

The daily positivity rate has declined to 11.34 percent, the Centre said.

Tamil Nadu Imposes Week-Long Lockdown

The Tamil Nadu administration, on Sunday, imposed a week-long total lockdown in the state till 31 May. Only pharmacies, milk supply, drinking water supply, and newspaper distribution will be allowed in the state in view of the COVID-19 curbs, ANI reported.

The Department of Horticulture will tie up with local bodies to provide fruits and vegetables in all districts.

Uttarakhand: All Hospitals to Report Number of Deaths on Same Day

Uttarakhand Health Secretary Amit Negi on Monday, 24 May said that all the hospitals have been strictly instructed to report the number of death of the patients on the same day, failing which, strict action will be taken.

Haryana: Govt Launches Sanjeevni Pariyojn, an Integrated COVID Program

Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday launched Sanjeevni Pariyojn, an integrated program for COVID-19. He said, “Post-COVID effects and third wave are challenges for the state. We've 20,000 oxygen beds including ventilators while COVID Centres have 30,000 beds.”

“We've to break the chain of the virus. We're using services of 200 students for online medical consultation. Doctors will supervise them,” he added.

He also said that state only got 1200-1400 injections of Black Fungus and we had 400 patients 2 days back, adding that the demand for injections is varying daily.

Uttarakhand: COVID-19 Curfew Extended Till 1 June

The Uttarakhand government on Monday, extended the COVID-19 curfew in the state till 1 June. Shops selling essential commodities will remain open between 8am and 11am.

On 28 May, the public will be free to travel between 8am and noon for purchase of essential commodities.

Lockdown Extended in Bihar Till 1 June

Lockdown has been extended in Bihar till 1 June, CM Nitish Kumar said on Monday.

1,550 New COVID Cases in Delhi, Positivity Rate 2.52%

Delhi on Monday reported 1,550 new coronavirus cases, with a positivity rate of 2.52 percent, and 207 deaths.

RDIF, Panacea Biotec Launch Production of Sputnik Vaccine in India

The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and Panacea Biotec have launched the production of the Sputnik vaccine in India, a joint statement said on Monday.

Panacea Biotec will produce 100 million doses of Sputnik V per year, it said.

Karnataka Reports 25,311 New COVID Cases

Karnataka recorded 25,311 new COVID-19 cases, 57,333 patient discharges, and 529 deaths in the last 24 hours. The current positivity rate is at 23.28 percent.

Maharashtra reported 22,122 new COVID-19 cases, 42,320 recoveries and 361 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Black Fungus: 19,420 Vials of Liposomal Amphotericin B Distributed

Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers Sadananda Gowda announced today that 19,420 vials of Liposomal Amphotericin B injections have been distributed to states for the treatment of Black Fungus.

Karnataka has been provided with 1030 vials. Meanwhile, domestic production is also increasing along with imports.

Total 5,424 Cases of Black Fungus Reported so Far: Harsh Vardhan

Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan announced today that a total of 5,424 cases of mucormycosis or black fungus have been reported from 18 states, with majority of them being reported from Gujarat and Maharashtra.

Delhi to Get First Vaccination Drive-Through on 26 May

Delhi will get its first drive-through vaccination centre at Vegas Mall in Dwarka on 26 May.
