Meanwhile, as many as 2,259 new COVID-19 cases and 120 deaths were reported in Maharashtra on Tuesday, taking the tally in the state to 90,787 and the death toll to 3,289. In Tamil Nadu, 1,685 new cases were reported in the highest single-day spike, taking the total number of infections to 34,914.

Chhattisgarh reported 104 new COVID-19-positive cases, taking the total number of cases to 1,197. The number of active cases in the state stands at 858.
