India on Tuesday, 9 June, reported the highest single-day spike of 9,987 new COVID-19 cases, taking the total number of cases in the country to 2,66,598, including 1,29,917 active cases, 1,29,215 cured/discharged/migrated and 7,466 deaths.
Meanwhile, as many as 2,259 new COVID-19 cases and 120 deaths were reported in Maharashtra on Tuesday, taking the tally in the state to 90,787 and the death toll to 3,289. In Tamil Nadu, 1,685 new cases were reported in the highest single-day spike, taking the total number of infections to 34,914.

Chhattisharh Reports 104 New Cases

Railways Asks States to Provide Residual Demand for 'Shramik' Trains
Soon after the SC order on migrant workers on Tuesday, the Railways asked states to provide residual demand for 'shramik' special trains by 10 June, reported PTI.
It has also informed the state governments that it will continue to provide such trains within 24 hours after the demand is received from the states, the Rail Ministry said, according to ANI.
"So far, more than 4,347 'shramik' special services have been operated by Indian Railways to transport approximately 60 lakh persons to their destination states," the ministry said.
