“I tie the hands and legs of Dalits and then beat them up. I take out my anger (about the Atrocities Act) on them,” a person who looks like Bhagyashree Navtake, Deputy Superintendent of Police in Majalgaon taluka, Maharashtra is saying in a video which has going viral, reported news portal Scroll.
The woman is further heard saying that she has filed false cases against 21 Dalits so far and that they even charge Dalits with a number of sections so that they don’t get bail easily.
According to Scroll, she is speaking to a group of Marathas who have probably come to her for advice after being arrested under the SC/ST Act. She goes on to tell them that she can’t release them otherwise there would be violent reaction.
Narrating another incident, the woman in the video goes on to say that while she was posted in Pimpri near Pune city, she didn’t arrest the accused Marathas in the case for three days and instead told them to file a false case against the Dalit in question.
The alleged video clip of the police officer has been aired by various news channels.
