In two successive instances of derailment of the same train, five coaches of the Katni-Chopan train derailed on Saturday night in Madhya Pradesh followed by the derailment of two more coaches on Sunday, 15 April.

At least six people were injured in the derailment of 51675 Katni Chopan Express on Saturday night between the Salhna and Piparia Kalan stations in MP.

Meanwhile on Sunday, two coaches of the same passenger train derailed near the Khanna Banjari station in Katni, reported ANI.

  • The derailment on Saturday occurred around 10 pm, around 30 km away from Katni railway station, railway protection force inspector Virendra Singh told PTI
  • Repair work was undertaken after both the derailments
  • The reason for the derailments is not clear as of yet

Madhya Pradesh CM Monitoring Rescue Operations

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is monitoring the rescue operations of the Katni-Chopan passenger train derailment and has given necessary instructions to the administration, tweeted the CM’s office.

Six Injured as 5 Coaches of Katni-Chopan Passenger Train Derail in MP, Rescue Operations Underway

Six passengers were injured as 5 coaches of the Katni-Chopan passenger train derailed in Madhya Pradesh, reported ANI.

The train derailed around 10 pm between Salhna-Pipariyakala in Katni district, about 30 km away from the Katni railway station, Railway Protection Force Inspector Virendra Singh told PTI. Rescue operations are underway.
