Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, on 29 July, reviewed the situation in the flood-hit areas of the state and directed the officials to ensure that the relief operations were carried out smoothly.
The Army rescued 87 people and attended to three medical emergencies in the flood-hit villages of Jalore district.
In a major rescue operation on the night of 28 July, by the army in Jalore district, 540 girls were rescued from Dr Bhim Rao Girls Hostel in Bhainswara, the Times of India reported. The hostel was submerged after water escaped the Jawai dam in Jalore, trapping at least 540 students and teachers in the hostel.
Defence spokesperson Manish Ojha said, told the TOI:
At a meeting at her official residence after conducting an aerial survey of Pali and Sirohi districts, Raje took feedback from the officials.
Meanwhile, the revenue department issued an order for a special 'Girdawari' (record of land cultivation) in the flood-hit areas to assess the crop loss.
It also decided to convert the short-term loans of 2.95 lakh farmers in the affected districts to medium-term ones.
The government would bear an additional expense of Rs 196.05 crore towards this, a release said.
