Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is the richest CM in India with assets of Rs 177.48 crore, according to a latest report by Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR).
Naidu was followed by Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu (Rs 129.57 crore) and Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh (Rs 48.31 crore). Khandu is the richest chief minister in the Northeast.
According to the report, Tripura CM Manik Sarkar is the poorest CM, with assets of Rs 26 lakh. Other chief ministers with assets less than Rs 60 lakh are West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee (Rs 30 lakh) and Jammu and Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti (Rs 55 lakh).
The average of assets per chief minister from state Assemblies and union territories is Rs 16.18 crore.
Two chief ministers have assets of Rs 100 crore and above, six have assets between Rs 10-50 crore, 17 have assets between Rs 1-10 crore and six chief ministers have assets of less than Rs 1 crore.
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has assets of Rs 2.09 crore. Among the three women chief ministers, Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje is the richest with assets of Rs 4.04 crore.
The report, titled ‘Analysis of Chief Ministers from 29 State Assemblies and 2 Union Territories of India’ presented an analysis of the chief ministers on various parameters such as criminal background, financial background, gender, education, age details, etc
The report has sourced the information from chief ministers’ affidavits obtained from the ECI website (www.eci.nic.in) with nomination papers.
