Caught on CCTV: Man Shot at Point Blank Range in New Delhi, 3 Held

The three arrested have been identified as Rashid, Rashid, and Waseem – a part of the ‘Chennu Pehalwan’ gang.

Three men have been arrested in the alleged murder of a 23-year-old man in Delhi’s New Usmanpur area. CCTV footage that emerged on 29 November showed four men chasing a 23-year-old man and later killing him while bystanders watched the horror unfold. The footage is from New Usmanpur area and the murder occurred last month, according to reports by News18.

According to a report from Hindustan Times, the deceased victim has been identified as Wajid, a 35-year-old property dealer with a criminal record. He was accompanied by 29-year-old Faiz, another property dealer with a criminal record.

Wajid and Faiz had shut their shop and were making their way home from Brahmpuri’s Gali No 12 but were intercepted by the four gang members near Brahmpuri’s Gali No 10, Hindustan Times reported.

Shots were fired and Faiz was hit in the foot, thigh and chest. He fell down, while Wajid tried to take shelter in a building, as has been captured in the CCTV footage. Faiz was admitted to the hospital for his injuries.

The three arrested have been identified as Rashid alias Mumtaj, Rashid alias Golu, and Waseem – the three are reportedly a part of the ‘Chennu Pehalwan’ gang.

‘Gang War’

The footage shows a man frantically enter a building, with four bike-borne men on the chase. One biker stands guard while three bikers can be seen entering the building behind him, flushing out the victim on to the street. The fourth can be seen firing off around eight bullets at close range while the victim lays on the road.

According to News18 reports, police have called it a case of gang warfare. The victim had a criminal record and was released on bail just days before his murder.
