With student bodies asking for a high-level probe and the Congress demanding sacking of the Union education minister, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) chairperson Anita Karwal finally broke her silence on the Class 10 Maths and Class 12 Economics paper leak row, telling the agitated students not to worry.

We are working for the welfare of children and soon we will announce the re-examination dates. The kids have nothing to worry about and we are with them.

Reiterating that the decision of holding a re-examination for Class 10 Mathematics and Class 12 Economics paper is in “favour of the kids” and “in the interest of fairness” Karwal said that the board will soon declare the re-examination dates.

Earlier in the day, the Delhi unit of All India Democratic Students' Organisation demanded a high-level probe into the CBSE question paper leak case, and said it showed the board's "utter negligence" in conducting examinations fairly.

The students' body staged a demonstration on Parliament Street against the leakage of papers of two subjects and accused the central government of making false claims of providing good governance.

Amid massive protests over the paper leaks issue, Congress president Rahul Gandhi targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, going into rhyme, saying "in everything there is leak, the 'chowkidar' is weak".

Javadekar, however, put up a brave face and said the culprits will not go scot-free. He termed the issue as “unfortunate”.
