Have you been wanting to take a break to do away with your mundane routine? Have the demonetisation blues hit you hard? Well, Pune is hosting India’s first-ever underwater festival this Sunday (27 November) – and it could be an ideal getaway!

Until now, India offered only the azure waters surrounding the Andaman and Nicobar islands for such adventures. But why spend so much when you can have the same fun for a much smaller amount?

Pune-based Finkick Adventures, founded by Ankit Saboo and Kshitij Mittal are organising this festival to bring underwater activities such as scuba diving closer to a landlocked city.

Other activities include underwater hockey, an underwater playground and an obstacle course in a 15-feet-deep pool. There will also be an underwater scribble board where you can share your festival experience. You can also rake photos at the underwater photo booth!

There are no restrictions and you are expected to only know basic swimming skills. The rest will be taken care of by the organisers.

A Step Towards Marine Life Conservation

The event is also trying to promote marine life conservation. In a bid to do this, the festival will host an underwater exhibition on aquatic life. What the event is trying to promote is awareness about the state of marine life and encourage people to conserve it.

Aimed at giving people a good time, the festival is expected to witness a footfall of about 200 people. The festival will also give a boost to water sports in the country.
