Shikhar Agarwal, a Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) youth wing leader and one of the prime accused in the murder of Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh in the Bulandshahr violence on 3 December was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh (UP) police on Thursday, 10 January, ANI reported.
According to The Times of India (TOI) Agarwal was reportedly arrested by the Jehangirabad police in Hapur on Thursday.
Over 35 people arrests have been made so far in the case, including other prime accused Yogesh Raj and Prashant Nutt, PTI reported.
While Nutt was arrested for the murder of inspector Subodh Kumar, Yogesh Raj, the local convenor of Bajrang Dal, was arrested for instigating mob violence.
Twenty-seven people were named in the FIR, while 50 to 60 unidentified people were booked under IPC Sections 436 (mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to destroy house, etc), 307 (attempt to murder), 302 (murder), 124A (sedition), 147, 148, 149 (related to rioting), 332, 33, 353 (related to voluntary assault on public servant to obstruct them from performing their duty), 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others), PTI reported.
They were also booked for destroying public property, among others.
