Did Brett Lee and his wife Lana Anderson convert to Hinduism? Yeah, no.

An unofficial Facebook page for the Bharatiya Janata Party recently shared a photo of former Australian cricketer Brett Lee and his wife Lana Anderson with a caption suggesting that they had converted to Hinduism.

The post that promoted false news said, “Brett Lee aur Lana Anderson – Humne sanatan dharm apna hai, kya aap hume Hindu dharm mein swagat karoge?” Translation: “Brett Lee and Lana Anderson – We have accepted sanatan dharma, will you welcome us to Hinduism?”, implying that these were sentiments being expressed by the couple.

The post got not only close to a thousand shares, but also several comments, enthusiastically welcoming Brett Lee to Hinduism.

Even though the post doesn’t state for a fact if Brett Lee said he wishes to be welcomed into Hinduism, most people who viewed the post, welcomed him to the religion with arms wide open, as visible in the comment section.

While one user commented, “Yes , you welcome in oldest & rich culture”, another assumed he wants to live in India, and wrote “Kyaaap ko hamara Bharat apko
etana achcha laga ki ap hamare Bharat me rahna chahte ho. Hamara so bhagge hai ki ap hamare yahan Rehan chahte Hai” (Translation: Did you like our Bharat so much that you want to live here? We feel privileged that you want to stay with us.”

And The Real Story Is...

Upon closer look, the photo shared by the Facebook page, bears the watermark of the photographer, Manav Mangalani, who had posted the photo a week ago on Instagram, SMHoaxSlayer reported.

The photo caption clearly states that the cricketer had visited St Jude Childcare Centre to promote music therapy.

Further proof of this information are photographs clicked by another photographer – BL Soni, inside the hospital, SMHoaxSlayer reported.

The photos are a part of a report published by The Free Press Journal on 8 June, titled “In pictures: Brett Lee join hands with St Jude Childcare Center to promote Music Therapy in Mumbai”.
