The rush of booking tatkal tickets may have shaken up the Indian railways for there is a new decision of revising the timings to book Tatkal tickets in AC and non-AC classes. The change would be affected from today and is expected to reduce the load on the ticketing site and booking windows.
Right now, the booking under Tatkal scheme opens at 10 am on the previous day of journey from train originating station. This means that if you wish to journey on 20th June from Delhi, then you have to book on 19th June at 10 am. Though travelers complain they hardly get a ticket because currently about 10,000 to 12,000 tickets are being booked online.
The tatkal ticket booking will start at 10 am for AC classes whereas that for non-AC classes it will start at 11 am. Moreover, all types of ticketing agents including IRCTC agents will now be debarred from booking non-Tatkal tickets for 30 minutes from the opening of bookings.
