BJP Councillor and Dalit leader Srinivas Prasad, popularly known as Kithaganahalli Vasu, was allegedly hacked to death after being abducted by unknown persons in Anekal, Bengaluru’s rural district.
Vasu’s death came to light on Tuesday morning after being confirmed by Bengaluru’s Surya City Police. The accused are yet to be identified and arrested.
Political violence has been unleashed in the southern states with horrific incidents being reported especially in Kerala and Karnataka.
Multiple murders have been reported in Karnataka since last year. On 16 October, a RSS worker was allegedly hacked to death by two motorcycle-borne men. On 4 November, BJP Yuva Morcha leader J Ravi was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Mysuru district. Few days later, another BJP member was found murdered in Bidar district.
On 5 March, three BJP activists were allegedly attacked by CPI(M) workers in Kerala’s Kozhikode.
Sangh leader Kundan Chandravat had also announced a bounty of Rs 1 crore on Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan head for the alleged murder of 300 Sangh workers in the state, but later retracted the statement.
