1. Man Rapes Minor Girl, Wife Gets Them Married
A Dalit minor girl was allegedly raped by a painter and forced by his wife to marry him at Hunasikote in Malur taluk of Kolar district to save him from penal action. But police on Monday arrested the man and his wife under provisions of the Child Marriage Act, Pocso Act and Protection of Civil Rights Act.
Gangaraju, 32, of Kumbara caste and from Dodda Kadathuru village, befriended Dalit woman Pallavi, 23, who had deserted her husband. Both got married a couple of months ago and were living at Hunasikote, near Tekal.
A 13-year-old cousin of Pallavi arrived at their house last week and was staying with them. Gangaraju allegedly raped her and threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed it to anyone. The news, however, spread in the village and a complaint reached the child helpline in Malur.

2. London Student, Beau got Gangster Killed
The investigation into the murder of Bengaluru’s richest gangster, Lakshmana, 45, took a new twist with the arrest of a 21-year-old girl, Varshini, who also happens to be a post-graduate student in the UK’s Cambridge University.
Explaining the sordid saga of love, obsession and murder, the police said that Lakshmana had given lakhs of rupees to Varshini, who he knew since she was a kid and, many years later, fell in love with her.
But Varshini was in a relationship with another man, and this didn’t go down well with Lakshmana. This tension between the trio eventually led to the murder of Lakshmana. Varshini, daughter of Harish Sanjeevappa, alias Moote Harish, was a neighbour of Lakshmana. Her lover, Rupesh R alias Rupesh Gowda (25), a resident of RR Nagar and a native of Channapatna taluk, runs a dance class at Nagarabhavi.

3. Truck Driver who ran Over Child Beaten to Death by Mob; 6 Held
A 24-year-old concrete mixer truck driver was allegedly beaten to death by a mob after his vehicle ran over a six-year-old boy in Hebbagodi near Anekal on the outskirts of Bengaluru on Sunday evening. Six people have been arrested in connection with the murder.
Radhe Shyam, who was from Dudhi town in Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh and worked with a private firm as a truck driver, had severe injuries when he was rescued from the mob. He was rushed to Narayana Hrudayalaya Mazumdar Shaw Medical Centre, where he died around 6:40 pm.
The child was identified as Arhaan, son of Sadaf, of Hubballi who works in a factory and lives in Kammasandra, Anekal.

4. Auto Drivers Allegedly Assault Cop After Argument Over High Fare
An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) in Bengaluru was attacked by two autorickshaw drivers near the Cantonment Railway Station after he reportedly argued with them about the high fares being charged for his ride. The incident took place on Wednesday.
As the argument turned physical, passers-by soon came to the rescue of 58-year-old Kariyanna, who is attached to the State Crime Record Bureau. He sustained injuries and was taken to a hospital nearby. Kariyanna later filed a complaint with the High Grounds police.
Per his complaint to the police, Kariyanna was on his way home after attending a meeting near the railway station. He wanted to take an auto to Lingarajapura to take his daughter-in-law to hospital.

5. Lok Sabha polls: BJP Wants to Hold 40 Major Rallies in Karnataka
The Bharatiya Janata Party is planning an intensive campaign for the Lok Sabha polls in Karnataka, with about 40 major rallies across the state by roping in central leaders and chief ministers of BJP-governed states. These rallies are in addition to various smaller rallies and street-level meetings.
According to sources, the BJP state unit has sent a proposal on this to its central leadership, seeking clearance.
Apart from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is proposed to address six to seven rallies, the state unit has sent requests for several national leaders, including party national president Amit Shah, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Water Resources Nitin Gadkari, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani for addressing these rallies.
