1. Sunny Leone Cancels Bengaluru Event; Twitterati Slam K'taka Govt, City Police
It’s official: Sunny Leone will not be performing in Bengaluru on New Year’s Eve. The actor made the announcement on Tuesday, after days of protests by pro-Kannada outfits, who demanded that the event where she was supposed to perform be cancelled as it was against Kannada culture. The Karave Yuva Sena had approached the Bengaluru Police Commissioner for the same.
The Bengaluru Police Commissioner T Sunil Kumar had denied permission for the event to be held in a city hotel saying that the event will be a “security nightmare.”
The police’s decision came after a fringe pro-Kannada outfit protested against the event and burnt posters of the actor on Friday. The protesters claimed that Sunny's performance will be against Kannada culture.

2. Mercury Dips to 15 Degrees in City; More Chilly Nights Likely
The mercury is dipping in the city, and the weatherman has forecast more chilly days and nights.
On Tuesday, until 5:30 pm, the maximum temperature was 27.3 degrees Celsius and minimum 15.3 degrees Celsius. The maximum and minimum temperatures at the HAL Airport and the Kempegowda International Airport were 26.8 and 13.6 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Sunder M Metri, director-in-charge, India Meteorological Department, Bengaluru, says the minimum temperature in the winter dips as the sky remains clear and because of the winds blowing from North India. Presently, the temperature is one degree below normal. It is likely to drop by 1-2 degrees in the coming days.

3. Brothers From Kashmir Assaulted in Bengaluru: CM Mehbooba Mufti Demands Action
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday demanded strict action against those who allegedly assaulted two Kashmiri brothers in Bengaluru for not speaking in Kannada.
According to media reports, a 24-year-old hotel-management student from Kashmir and his elder brother were reportedly beaten up and their vehicle damaged by a group of men near a bus stop in north Bengaluru's Sanjay Nagar locality on the night of 11 December.
“Very disturbed by the news of 2 brothers from Kashmir being assaulted in Bengaluru. I would urge the authorities to take strict action against the accused," Mufti posted on Twitter today.

4. Money Lender Slaps, Thrashes K’taka School Principal with Cycle Chain
The CCTV footage shows the man yelling at a woman in the room while she cowers behind a desk. In a fit of rage, the man then reaches across the desk to hit the woman, and when she steps away, he walks to the side of the desk and slaps her repeatedly.
The video further shows the man continuing to yell at her. And here’s when it gets even more disturbing: At one point, he reaches into his pocket and takes out a cycle chain, which he then uses to thrash the woman who is clearly trying to get away from him.
The incident happened in Sanganayakanahalli in Bengaluru, reportedly at the Aryan School. According to reports, the man in the Ramakrishnappa, a BJP worker and a local money lender.

5. Woman Consumes Pesticide in Office of Police Chief
A woman, aged around 25, consumed pesticide in the office of the police commissioner on Infantry Road on Tuesday around 6 pm. A few policemen snatched the bottle from the woman, Roopa, and shifted her to the hospital opposite the commissioner’s office.
Preliminary inquiries revealed that she was seeing a man who had cheated her. “She was carrying a complaint, but we do not know whom she wanted to meet,” an officer said.
She is said to be out of danger, police sources said.
Police Commissioner T Suneel Kumar promised to redress her grievance after she recovers.

6. Gang Cut Open ATM Machine Using Gas Cutter, Escape with Rs 1.87 lakh Cash
As the miscreants closed the shutter of the kiosk after the theft, none noticed that the machine was broken into. Dhananjay, a house-keeping staff in the bank was alerted about the incident and then manager Ravikumar was informed. The gang cut the ATM machine into two and yet no alert was issued from the machine to the bank staff.
A gang of unidentified men broke open an ATM machine belonging to Dhanalakshmi Bank at Madanayakanahalli near Nelamangala on Sunday night. They made away with Rs 1.87 lakh while no security guard had been deployed at the kiosk, the police said.A senior police officer said the incident took place late in the night.
The ATM kiosk is located on Lakshmipura main road. The miscreants used a gas cutter to break the machine and escaped with the cash. The incident came to light only around 12:30 pm on Monday when Govindraju went to attend to a service order as there was no response from the server connected to ATM machine.
