Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, who is visiting Japan to meet investors and policymakers, played down the ban on diesel cars in the capital, labelling it a “transient phase”.
Jaitley, who is currently in Japan for a 6-day visit and scheduled to meet Suzuki Motor Chairman Osamu Suzuki on 31 May, said that India is too large a market for the ban to adversely affect Suzuki.
Jaitley was asked about the meeting with Suzuki after the ban by the National Green Tribunal on diesel vehicles of over 2,000 cc in Delhi and Kerala to curb pollution.
