Attorney General India Mukul Rohatgi has written to the Government saying that he does not wish to seek another term as the country’s top law officer.
The move comes just days after his term, which was to end on 18 June, was extended for an indefinite period. Rohagti confirmed this development to BloombergQuint.
As Attorney General, Rohatgi has represented the Government on important matters like the National Judicial Appointment Commission (NJAC) case and Aadhaar cases.
Rohatgi served as an Additional Solicitor General during the previous National Democratic Alliance government under Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s premiership.
