Speaking about senior journalist N Ram’s report in The Hindu, which revealed that the Prime Minister’s Office held “parallel negotiation” with the French team in the Rafale deal, former BJP leader Arun Shourie heartily congratulated Ram for uncovering what he called a ‘decisive fact.’

“These facts expose the lies of the PM and his minions, and of the captive media that has been broadcasting them. They put in shame the media, which, out of supposed neutrality has not been pursuing this investigation”, he told The Quint.

Shourie said it also highlighted the superficiality of the Supreme Court’s judgment on the Rafale deal.

“Once again, it’s a warning to the SC about the dangers of deciding matters on the basis of information received in sealed cover and of deciding matters without going into the facts and circumstances in details,” he added.

Speaking to The Quint, Shourie added that this is what allowed the Attorney General to go on interrupting others by saying that the documents being put on record were “purloined documents.”

“Now, at last, the AG and SC would be realising the significance of so-called purloined documents. I hope they will remember this lesson”, he added.

With reference to the anti-corruption provisions being dropped, Shourie said that this was done as they were laying the groundwork in anticipation of any inquiry into Anil Ambani and his company and the favours that were done, despite his company not being qualified to be offset partners.

“This government consists of bullies, who have muscles but no brains. They have muscles in their brain. They will keep making mistakes and new facts will keep coming out”, he said.
