#ArrestRamdev trended on Twitter on Sunday, 17 November, as users of the social media platform protested against some remarks made by Patanjali Ayurved co-founder Baba Ramdev against followers of Periyar and Dr B. R. Ambedkar.
The protest came in light of an interview given by Baba Ramdev to TV channel Republic on 11 November, when he claimed that followers of Ambedkar and Periyar are indulging in vyacharik aatankwaad (intellectual terrorism), a term he had coined himself.
Hansraj Meena, a socio-political activist shared the clip of Ramdev making this remark on Twitter, and also called for a shutdown of Patanjali.
Many Twitter users demanded his arrest over these remarks, while some also called for a boycott of Patanjali products.
Among those tweeting with the hashtag were Meena, journalism professor Dilip Mandal and Bhim Army chief Chandra Shekhar Azad.
