Bengaluru Techies Allegedly Attacked by Mob For Rescuing Cattle

They said they were attacked while they were taking the police to an illegal slaughterhouse.

Two Bengaluru techies were allegedly attacked by a mob while they were taking the police to an illegal slaughterhouse at Avalahalli near Thalaghattapura on Saturday evening, The Hindu reported.

Filing a complaint, the woman, identified as 45-year-old software engineer Nandini, said that she and her friend, 33-year-old Rijil, were attacked after they complained about the illegal activity.

“Fourteen cows were tied there, of which two calves were being taken to a small room in a nearby area for slaughter,” Nandini said, adding that they were assured that “action was being taken, and police officers were deployed in the area.”

She also claimed that this was a “trap” set up by the police. “This was a trap set up by the police. When we went to the spot after police complaint, I saw a mob gathered,” ANI quoted Nandini as saying.

While Nandini has fractured her hand and sustained head injuries, her friend Rijil has sustained injuries on her arms and face, The Hindu report added.

Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah condemned the attack and said that “nobody can take the law into their hands” and that “action will be taken according to law.”

Former CM BS Yeddyurappa also took to Twitter to take a stand against the incident.

While no arrests have been made so far in the case, the police said that they are making efforts to nab the attackers. The 14 cows, however, have been rescued.
