Protests over the murder of a seven-year-old student at Gurugram’s Ryan International School turned violent on 10 September with the agitated mob torching a liquor shop near the school premises.
Angry parents burnt down the liquor store that is said to be roughly 50 meters away from the school.
As per state excise policy, liquor stores have to be 150 meters away from any educational institution.
Agitated parents gathered outside the Ryan International School in Bhondsi, Gurugram on Sunday morning, to demand a CBI probe into the murder of Pradyuman, a seven-year-old student, within the school premises. Demonstrators broke window panes in the course of the protest.
Soon after the protest began, the police conducted a lathi charge on the protesters. “We were protesting peacefully, we just wanted justice. But they chased and beat us,” a protesters with a bloodied face told The Quint.
