A martial arts expert from Chennai, Shihan Hussaini, made headlines on 23 February, 2015 when he crucified himself to pray for Jayalalithaa’s quick return from jail. The former Chief Minister who passed away recently, was then battling a disproportionate assets case.
Hussaini screamed in pain as his team nailed him to a cross, but he later said that this was no big sacrifice if Amma was made CM again.
Now with Tamil Nadu’s political scenario undergoing massive change, Hussaini has announced the formation of a new political party ‘AMMA’ – Amma Makkal Munnetra Amaippu.
The main objective of this party is to avenge Amma’s death, he says.
A self-proclaimed ‘fanatic’, Hussaini painted a potrait of then Chief Minister Jayalalithaa using his own blood. This earned him Rs 3 lakh from the government, and a grant of prime land for his karate school.
He even taunted Jayalalithaa’s adversaries by making their statues with pig’s blood and cow dung.
He met BJP leader and Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu in Delhi on 23 December 2016 to take his blessings for this new venture.
He originally never wanted to join politics, and conveyed the same to Jayalalithaa when he met her in 1993. But Amma’s death has changed things, and the politics being played in Tamil Nadu is ‘pathetic’, he says, Hence, he decided to take the ‘plunge’.
