Air India Plane Bursts Tyre, Makes Emergency Landing at Srinagar

An Air India plane flying the Jammu-Srinagar sector burst a tyre, made emergency landing. All 149 passengers safe.

A Jammu-Srinagar Air India flight narrowly escaped the worst when a tyre burst during landing at Srinagar international airport, officials said.

The over-150 passengers and crew on board are safe, officials told agencies, India Today reported.

The aircraft suffered some damage, but came to rest in the middle of the airport’s only runway, causing a temporary halt to all flight operations.

All flights departing Srinagar were delayed, while arriving flights were diverted to Chandigarh airport.

Air India fight AI821 suffered a tyre burst on landing at Srinagar today (Monday). The flight had 149 passengers on board. All passengers are safe.
– Air India said in a statement

The statement added that, Air India was working to clear the runway and a relief aircraft was readied to reach Srinagar to operate AI822 on the return sector Srinagar-Jammu-Delhi.
