State BJP president Jitu Vaghani Sunday, 24 February accused the Congress of playing divisive games in the country. He urged young athletes, gathered at a sports meet organised by the party’s youth wing, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha elections.
Vaghani was speaking at the prize distribution ceremony of the sports meet, Kamal Cup, named after the BJP’s election symbol — the lotus. Winners of five sports, kabaddi, volleyball, chess, carrom, and tug of war were awarded during the function held at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) training centre complex in Gandhinagar.

Three persons were killed in a hit-and-run incident in Chhota Udepur district of Gujarat Sunday, police said.
The victims were heading for their hometown Pavi Jetpur on a motorcycle after attending a friend's wedding at Halol when a speeding truck hit them near Bodeli.
The truck driver escaped after hitting the bike, said an official of the Bodeli police station.

The National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) on Sunday held a day-long regional conclave in Vadodara to promote micro, small and medium enterprises run by Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) entrepreneurs. Part of a nation-wide campaign across 24 cities, it strives to scale up procurement from these SC/ST run enterprises, according to targets set by the Centre’s Public Procurement Policy of 2012. This is done by capacity building and providing access to and awareness on government schemes as well as banking and finance.

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, 24 February, launched the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Yojana by initiating the electronic transfer of the first instalment of Rs 2,000 each to over 1 crore farmers, officials in the Gujarat government said that 42.47 lakh farmers in the state will get the money through the Central scheme.

On Monday, the metro tunnel connecting Apparel Park to Kalupur will be completed. This comes just one week before Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates the first 6.5km stretch of the metro, from Vastral Gam to Apparel Park, on 4 March.
Two tunnel boring machines (TBMs) were lowered in March 2017. The two machines will on Monday complete two 1.72km tunnels, one each for up and down trains, between Apparel Park and Kalupur.
