Even as Hyderabad is reeling from the aftermath of Tuesday’s heavy rainfall, which disrupted daily life, a frothing drain (Mini Tank Bund) in Saroornagar spilled over into a residential area in Kodandram Nagar.
In the video, toxic froth can be seen piling on the road.
According to local reports, the froth made its way up through a manhole along with rainwater and blocked the roads.
The froth covered up to five to six feet of the road, reportedly.
Local residents said that the stench of the chemical froth was unbearable and fear that they may be susceptible to skin diseases.
They also said that it was the first instance of toxic foam entering residential areas.
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Health officer K Mallikarjun Rao said that the rescue team has already countered the froth using water.
He added that the GHMC is investigating on how the chemical frothing happened.
