The Mumbai police have reportedly registered an FIR against ad filmmaker Ram Subramanian for allegedly posting derogatory comments against Prime Minister Narendra Modi on social media. According to a Mumbai Mirror report, the complaint against Subramanian comes after his jibe at the PM and his mother on Mother’s Day.
The filmmaker has reportedly been booked under various sections of IPC and the Information Technology Act. Ram Subramanian, however, says that he hasn’t yet received a call from the police and has only read about the FIR against him in media reports.
He also makes it clear that he did not put up the allegedly derogatory posts “thoughtlessly”.
Speaking about his tweets, Subramanian said, “Mr Modi has spoken against the Muslim community, Yogi Adityanath speaks against the Muslim community in his speeches, and that too to a live audience, and that is called inciting an audience.”
While Ram Subramanian has since deleted the post, he received some severe backlash on Twitter for the tone.
This isn’t the first time the ad filmmaker has hit out at the Prime Minister and other BJP leaders on social media. He is known to have taken personal potshots at PM Modi’s appearance.
Soon after the complaint was filed, Twitter temporarily suspended Subramanian’s account.
