AAP Campaigns Against BJP in Goa with #CloseTheCasinos Clamour

With Assembly elections in Goa due early next year, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has been especially focusing its campaign energies on the casino menace in the state in order to get an edge over the ruling BJP.

Calling the menace a result of the BJP's inaction, the party and its members have been aggressively promoting the #CloseTheCasinos campaign on social media.

Along with strong messages, the party has also been putting up pictures of its signature campaign, which is aimed at garnering massive support of the Goans regarding the issue. According to a TOI report, the party is garnering support for a letter to be sent to Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar to highlight how the BJP has failed to do away with the casino menace despite its election promise before the 2012 state elections.

Earlier this month, Delhi Chief Minister and national convener of AAP Arvind Kejriwal accused the BJP and the Congress of having links with these casinos, and urged the Goans to support the AAP if they want to see concrete action on the issue.

The BJP and AAP are locked in a fierce contest in the coastal state, which is a tourist hotspot. The results of the Punjab and Goa elections early next year will be especially crucial for the AAP, as they will reflect its national footprint.
