Just a day before the fifth and final phase of polling in Bihar, the state woke up to anti-beef posters with the BJP stamp on it, attacking Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

The poster featuring a woman hugging a cow asks the Chief Minister why he is silent despite learning of the repeated attacks the “holy” cow.

Further, the poster lists statements by RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, party leader Raghuvansh Prasad Singh and Congress leader and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on the beef controversy. The statements appear under the question, “Please stop vote bank politics and answer this question: Are you in agreement with these views of your allies?”

The word beef is highlighted in each statement listed on the poster.

Responding to the ad, CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury called it ‘disgusting’.
