2008 BMW Hit-and-Run: Accused Gets Two Years in Jail, Fine Imposed

A Delhi court on Saturday awarded two years of rigorous imprisonment to Utsav Bhasin in the 2008 BMW hit-and-run case.

Bhasin, son of a Haryana-based industrialist, was driving his BMW on 11 September 2008 when he hit two men on a motorcycle near Moolchand hospital in Delhi. Of the two victims, Anuj Chauhan died two days after the incident while Mrigank Shrivastava was suffered serious injuries.

According to a Hindustan Times report, the court also asked Bhasin to pay a fine of Rs 10 lakh to Chauhan’s kin and Rs 5 lakh to the Shrivastava.
