A special TADA court in Mumbai pronounced the quantum of sentence to the convicts in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case on 7 September. Abu Salem and Karimullah Khan were given life imprisonment, while Tahir Merchant and Firoz Khan were sentenced to death.

Right after the court’s pronouncement, the internet was abuzz with reactions. While some lauded the sentencing, others resented the ‘life imprisonment’ meted out to Salem and his accomplice, on account of it ‘not being enough’.
