Two Delhi police personnel have been suspended for negligence after a Vigilance Unit found a shopkeeper in Mangolpuri selling crackers, ANI reported on Tuesday, 17 October.
The 40-year-old shopkeeper, who was found selling crackers and running a mobile recharge shop, has been arrested. A departmental inquiry has been ordered in the case.
The crackdown on crackers was also witnessed in Gurugram. Two people were arrested for selling firecrackers in Gurugram’s Sector 9A, while a firecrackers shop was sealed in the Sector10. Police recovered 39 cartons that were stacked with crackers for the purpose of selling, ANI reported.
This comes after the Supreme Court passed an order banning the sale of firecrackers in Delhi-NCR till 1 November. The Delhi police had also reiterated that it will take action against online firecracker sellers.
