After facing severe criticism for attack on tribal activist Soni Sori, Chhattisgarh Government on Tuesday offered Y-security cover to her. The AAP leader Soni Sori however refused to accept the security cover.
Sori said that she was an ordinary tribal and security of her native land was important, according to a Times of India report.
However, when Chhattisgarh AAP convener Sanket Thakur insisted, Sori agreed to accept the security for her teenage daughter and two children. Sori and her family would be provided with a security cover of 11 policemen.
Chhattisgarh government had earlier decided to provide Y-category security cover to Sori after three unknown men threw acid like substance on her face, according to Chhattisgarh police statement in The Hindu.
Sori was shifted to Indraprastha Apollo, Delhi on Tuesday where she is being treated. Doctors say that she is responding well to intervention and her condition is improving.
Top Chhattisgarh government officials also visited the hospital to enquire about the health of Sori. State’s Resident Commissioner BV Umadevi and others visited Indraprastha Apollo hospital and met doctors treating Sori.
