A teenager, duped by two men at an ATM booth, decided to end her life on the morning of Tuesday, 8 May.
The 15-year-old was a student of class 10 and a resident of Dwarka, reported Hindustan Times. Her father – an employee at an automobile company – had recently undergone a surgery and was bedridden. The family was also reportedly facing a financial crisis.
At around 11 on Tuesday, am she had taken her father's debit card and gone to an ATM near her house to withdraw money, reported HT.
According to the HT report, the girl denied any knowledge of the Rs 29,000 withdrawal and the family subsequently filed a complaint at the Dwarka North police station. An FIR was registered and the police also procured CCTV footage of the ATM.
While the police were attempting to indentify the two men, the 15-year-old went to the ATM with her elder sister and asked the security guard to help her identify them.
On returning home, the teenager retreated to her room, reported HT. Her family later told the police that when they went to check on her about 30 minutes later she was found hanging from the ceiling fan.
