In the German city of Cologne, New Year Eve’s celebration started with more than 121 women being reportedly robbed and sexually harassed outside Cologne’s cathedral by drunk men.

Officials reported on Friday that around two dozens of the suspects who were involved in mass assaults and mugging, were assylum seekers.

Shady Chabaan is Syrian refugees and distributed on Monday (01.11.2016) before the Cologne Central Station a leaflet. Together with other Syrian refugees, he brought it even at the Cologne University to the people. They all live in Cologne-Holweide in a refugee shelter and call themselves “Syrian men for Fairness”. Your leaflet contains a statement which clearly and unambiguously the sexual assaults and robberies in the New Year’s Eve “in the strongest terms” convicted.

Another curious event followed this. A Syrian refugee identified as Shady Chaaban together with a group of Syrian men, circulated flyers in the city of Cologne. Signing off as “Syrian Men for Fairness”, they expressed regret over the mass assault that was carried out on women on New Year’s Eve.

Thanking Germany for the refuge it provided to those who fled their homes and condemning the mugging and assault, they hoped that justice would be dealt to assaulters.

We, men from Syria, strongly condemn the abuse of women and the attacks against people as well as the robberies on New Year’s Eve.

We regret that women were injured in their honor and bodily. We hope that they recover quickly and well.

We hope that the people guilty of these criminal actions will be found and punished.

Our cultural values were trod upon with both feet through these criminal actions.

Our values of course include respect of women and men, respect of bodily integrity, and respect of personal property.

We are thankful to all people in Germany, to women and men for all the help, they have given us already.

We will prove ourselves worthy of their engagement and their help. You and we will see, that your values are also ours.

Germany has done more for us than any other European or Arab land!
