Selling cow milk will fetch you money. But gau mutra (or cow urine) is no longer far behind either – at least not in Rajasthan.
While a litre of cow milk may be sold by a dairy farmer at a price between Rs 22 and Rs 25 per litre, urine of high breed cows such as Gir and Tharparkar can fetch him Rs 15-Rs 30 per litre, reported Times of India.
According to the TOI report, Kailash Gujjar from Jaipur says ever since he started selling cow urine to people who do organic farming, his earnings increased by at least 30 percent. He says he does not mind staying up the entire night to keep a watch on the cows to ensure that the urine does not fall on the ground.
Gujjar has also been selling milk since the last two decades, reported TOI.
Another milk trader Om Prakash Meena, whom the daily spoke to, now buys cow urine from a Gir cowshed in Jaipur and sells it at Rs 30 and Rs 50 per litre.
